The Assessment Process
Consultation
Before we begin, we will conduct an individual health history, orthopaedic history and gather information about your goals, and schedule.
Personal Training Assessment
Anthropometrics: We assess height, weight, and circumference.
Body Composition: We utilize the most cutting edge methodology today for assessing body composition-- Biosignature Modulation (link to article on ppc page). Where as most body composition formulas tell you only your body fat, Biosignature Modulation digs deeper linking your hormonal profile with how your body stores fat. This technique was developed by world renowned Strength Coach Charles Poliquin over a period of 20 years. Higher Power Training has the only two Biosignature certified measurement specialists in the state of Minnesota! Our goal is to optimize body composition and get our athletes lean. Most athletes will lose a couple of percent within the first month of training with us. This is accomplished through proper eating and training.
Upper/Lower Body Structural Strength Assessment: Strength is force applied to an object irrespective of time. Strength is an important base to all athletic qualities even including flexibility. Often, muscles tighten up because they are weak. We utilize Charles Poliquin’s assessment protocol for upper and lower body. As the most successful strength and conditioning coach of all time, his protocol was developed over a period of 20 years working with Olympians from 12 different sports as well as professional athletes. Strength is improved by bodyweight and resistance training.
Postural Assessment: We assess the relationship of the head, spine, pelvis, and upper and lower extremities and how it affects performance, health, and mobility.
Flexibility Assessment: We assess for the most common muscle imbalances. Typically, most people have tight hip flexors, hip rotators, hamstrings, and pectoralis and latissimus dorsi muscles.
Low back assessment: When necessary, we integrate the most current assessment techniques developed by Stuart Mcgill, one of the most successful experts on treating low back pain.
